Use meters or lose taxi permits

NEARLY 60% of the complaints filed with the Commercial Vehicle Licencing Board (CVLB) each month concerns taxi drivers refusing to use meters.

According to CVLB chairman Datuk Markiman Kobiran, taxi operators risk having their permits suspended or withdrawn if they do not use the fare meters.

** Maybe they should put up the sticker to encourage taxi users to insist on the meter usage. "no meter, no enter". at least this will help those taxi with meter to get more customer. cheers..

8888 clicks of wealth..

For Chinese, the number 8 is considered lucky just like the number 7 is considered lucky in the West. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the Olympic games in China start on August 8, 2008 or 08/08/08. In China you have to pay extra to have the number 8 in your phone number or license plate. In addition, home and business owners like to have the number 8 in their address.

So, why is the number 8 considered lucky in the minds of Chinese people. The main reason has to do with the pronunciation of the word for the number 8 in China. It is pronounced "ba" and sounds like the word for prosperity which is pronounced "fa". Another reason why the number 8 could be considered lucky is because it is a perfect symmetrical shape. You can cut the number 8 in half vertically or horizontally, and both halves mirror themselves perfectly. Perfect symmetry lends itself to perfect balance. In Chinese Astrology, perfect balance is considered the ideal.

The word for "eight" (八,捌) in Mandarin (Pinyin: bā) sounds similar to the word which means "prosper" or "wealth" (发 - short for "发财", Pinyin: fā). In regional dialects the words for "eight" and "fortune" are also similar, eg Cantonese "baat" and "faat".

There is also a resemblance between two digits, "88", and the shuang xi ('double joy'), a popular decorative design composed of two stylized characters 喜 (xi, 'joy', 'happiness').

As sayyo2008.blogspot.com celebrate the 8888th clicks, may all the readers find a new prosperous beginning in future takings.. cheers..

The human brain, with its amazing mind power, is one of the most wonderful creations in the Universe. Weighing only a few hundred grams, our brain is the functional organ that holds unlimited potential to create literally anything we can imagine. It is the most valuable asset we can ever possess.

However, most people are either not aware of its potential or unable to utilize its potential to live a successful life. If one could master the keys to unlock his mind’s potential, he would have found the ultimate secret to the wildest dream of his life.

Being aware and understand the potential of our mind is the first step towards unveiling the mind power secrets. This understanding has to be coupled with knowledge of the Universal Laws and Spiritual Principles within which the mind power operates.

Knowledge is power. However, this power will remain docile if there is no action to apply it appropriately. Awareness, understanding, and doing, are the 3-part recipe for success.

Like everything else, it starts with an awareness. The knowing and awareness of the mind’s power and its tremendous potential must come with unwavering belief and confidence that these powers are all within you.

With awareness, it ignites the drive to search for the right “keys”. The keys that unlock our mind's potential have been well established many years ago and have been utilized by millions of people to create hugely successful life. Way Back Into Love ..

Check out this song.. Nice..

EPF down from 11% to 8%

PETALING JAYA: Employees can choose to reduce their EPF contributions to increase their disposable income next year.

The Government has allowed employees to reduce their contributions by three percentage points from 2009 to 2011.

Presently, the employer’s EPF contribution is 12% while employees contribute 11%.

“With the reduction, the total contribution is still at a reasonable rate of 20%, which is 12% from the employer and 8% from employee,” said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

** is this a good move by the government ??
a person earning rm1000, 3% of the contribution, rm30 used for daily expenditure.. how much can it help? extra 30 for a month usage..
nowadays, 30 can do what? reload handphone? pump petrol? a nice dinner for 2?

60-day countdown to rear seat belt use starts today

The 60-day countdown to the compulsory use of rear seat belts has begun.

Starting today, authorities will conduct daily operations to ensure rear seat passengers buckle up before it becomes compulsory on Jan 1.

Road Safety Department director-general Datuk Suret Singh said motorists must ensure passengers wear their seat belts if they did not want to have an interrupted journey.

** personal comment: the act is good, but what about those old cars without rear seat belts. does that mean these cars are not allow to carry rear passengers!! shouldn't the government organize a campaign in installing rear seat belts for the public before enforcing the law..

Airasia Vs MAS Airline.. Who will win ?
